How to Care For Your Duvet Covers

If you've got a down comforter or a duvet, you need to get a top quality cover that protects your expensive comforter and at the same time makes it look interesting. cheap duvet covers come in various styles, fabrics, patterns, and textures. Select the one that matches your wants. For example, if you've a queen bedding or comforter, you should choose queen sized cover, of course, where your bedding will fit comfortably.

You should also select style and color that are ideal for your bedroom. you have to know that duvet covers are costly, especially those that are made from high quality fabrics. You need to understand how to properly look after them if you would like them to last for a long while. To help you on this one, here are some guidelines to remember when caring for duvet covers.

Check whether your cover is mechanically cleanable or not. You can see this in the label. If it isn't machine washable, you've got to leave the cleaning to a professional dry cleaner service. But if it is machine washable, you can do it by yourself at home. When buying a duvet cover, it's better to choose something that you can easily wash by yourself, for example cotton duvet covers. Of course , you buy covers for your down comforter because it is difficult to clean the comforter itself. It defeats the purpose if your cover is difficult to clean and maintain as well .

After reading the care instructions, you can proceed to washing the cover in your washer. If there are stains, make sure to pre-treat them before putting the cover in the washer. Choose a stain remover that is appropriate for the fabric. Wait for five mins before placing the cover in the washer to let the fabric absorb the stain remover.

When arranging the cover in the washer, make sure that its weight is uniformly distributed. If it's not evenly distributed, the washer will not spin correctly, which can hurt your washer and which may not thoroughly clean your duvet cover.

Use your regular laundry detergent and proceed cleaning the cover. You have got to ensure that the blemishes are all gone before putting it in the dryer. You do not want to cover your down comforter with something that still has stains and dust.

Place the cover in the dryer. Adjust the dryer in the lowest heat setting. It is alright to dry it several times that to employ a powerful heat setting because this will protect you cover from bleaching or discoloration. Once it is completely dry, take it out, iron it, fold it smartly, and store it together with your other bedding sets.

Wash your duvet covers as quickly as possible if there is a stain or spill. It is better to remove a fresh stain or mud than a stain which has been on the cover for a couple of days. Ensure that you wash it thoroughly inside out to have a clean and fresh smelling cover for your down comforter.
